Muscle hypertrophy refers to the increase in muscle mass due to an increase in the number of sarcomeres in the skeletal. Therefore, hypertrophy training will be any stimulus given to our body in order to increase muscle size.

BASIS OF HYPERTROPHY TRAINING

The mechanisms by which muscle mass increase are quite complex. To simplify concepts, there are three main mechanisms by which we are able to achieve this.

  1. Mechanical tension
  2. Metabolic stress

The definition itself is clear:

  • Eating fast food everyday is NOT nutrition
  • Drinking big amounts of alcohol is NOT nutrition
  • Follow a plan based on chips and cookies is NOT nutrition

If there is one thing clear is the importance that nutritional habits and diet have in our health and every day life.

SUPPLEMENTATION

DEFINITION

Manufactured product intended to supplement one's diet, and usually contains one or more dietary ingredient

Supplementation is having an intense growth due to the influence of the fitness world. Pobably first used by bodybuilders to achieve better physiques, supplementation is used for three main reasons:

  1. Prevent deficiencies.
  2. Improve sports performance
  3. Improve health status

THE DARK SIDE OF SUPPLEMENTATION

True is that supplementation is a fascinating world and there is a wide variety of compounds available for the costumer.

However, many of this substances don't have enough evidence behind to conclude that they work. In addition to that is the high price of the products.

WHAT IS PHYSIOLOGY?

Physiolgy is the study of how the human body works, both in physical and chemical terms. Biological mechanisms, metabolic reactions, and the interaction between external and internal environment.

It involves the basic understanding on how our body works to keep us alive and evolve throughout the years.

WHY IS IT IMPORTANT?

It is logic to think that known the basis of physiology and biochemistry, the understanding of the mechanisms to improve sports performance and nutrition can be taken to a higher level.

This field can be applied in many aspects of our life. It involves the basis of what we do in our everyday life. From sleeping to eating to going to the gym and workout.

Therefore, physiology can take hypertrophy training to the next level. Let me send you a question to understand this a bit better:

PERSONAL DEVELOPMENT

Other people's thoughts and social media have lowered principles and essence while standards and expectations are higher than in the past. Personal development, finding out who you are, and being brave enough to get out of the cage and think differently can make you a better person.

Everybody should spend time for themselves. Everybody should have at least one hour for themselves, to think about what they want to go, what they want to become, and what they are doing to achieve this.
